10. Pico dos Bodes Viewpoint

Pico dos Bodes is an impressive viewpoint on São Miguel Island. This viewpoint is located between Faial da Terra and Provação, making it an excellent stop for people visiting this popular area in the south of the island.

From this viewpoint, you can enjoy panoramic views of green meadows with the blue sea in the background, offering 360-degree views that extend to Vila Franca do Campo. Additionally, at Pico dos Bodes Viewpoint, there's a wooden structure that you can climb to admire the views, almost like a balcony. In fact, this structure was specially designed for whale watching.

To reach the viewpoint, there are two options. You can drive directly there, parking nearby at the end of the road leading to the viewpoint. Another way to reach it is by hiking the Pico dos Bodes Viewpoint Trail, a linear route that covers a distance of 1 km and takes approximately 54 minutes round trip.

 

However, we personally recommend driving there as the trail follows the same path as the road leading to the viewpoint, which we believe detracts from the charm of the hike, and we don't consider it a notable trail on the island.
