Parque da Grená, a beautiful green space with many trees in São Miguel, Azores

8. Grená Park

The Grená Park is a natural park on São Miguel Island. In fact, it's one of the oldest parks in the area and is located on the northern shore of Lagoa das Furnas, in the Caldeiras area. This park is known for its fauna and flora, as well as its waterfalls.

The park was originally a summer residence built in 1855 by the Consul General in Ponta Delgada in honor of relatives of his wife. Now, it has been restored and opened to the public after a period of abandonment. In the midst of the park's property, you can find the old historic house, which is a tourist attraction in itself.

The Grená Park is ideal for those who want to enjoy nature in a more facilitated and accessible way for anyone, while maintaining the lush natural charm of the island. For example, it's a good place for hiking with children. Nevertheless, for anyone, it's a perfect place to enjoy a walk in nature, bathe in its pools, and contemplate its beautiful waterfall. However, admission is not free (€10).

Useful information:
