5. Poça Dona Beija Hot Springs

The Poça da Dona Beija hot springs is a very popular spot on São Miguel Island, in the village of Furnas. Alongside the hot springs of Terra Nostra Park, these are the most chosen by tourists, as well as by locals. These thermal baths offer a special experience: they can be visited at night since they are open until 11 p.m. We can assure you that the atmosphere, with the night lighting, is truly magical.

Regardless of the time of day you visit, the Poça da Dona Beija is a must-see on São Miguel Island. Its main attraction is its thermal waters at 39ºC (102.2°F), which come from an iron source. Along with the lush vegetation that surrounds them, relaxation is guaranteed.

The Poça da Dona Beija has four pools of different sizes and depths, all surrounded by vegetation and with an impressive view of nature. However, just like with Terra Nostra Park, we recommend wearing an old swimsuit or one you don't mind getting tinted by the water.

Another way to visit Poça Dona Beija at night is with this Night Tour to the Furnas Hot Springs. This tour includes pickup and drop-off at your hotel (only in Ponta Delgada), a guided visit to the Furnas fumaroles, and dinner in the area, where you can try the famous "Cozido das Furnas" and "Queijadas de Vila Franca" for dessert. • Opening hours: from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., every day of the week. There is a time limit of 1.5 hours. The last entry is at 10:15 p.m., and visitors must leave the pools by 10:45 p.m.

• Price: €8 for adults; €6 for children under 6 years old.
