Ponta da Ferraria Hot Springs

Ponta da Ferraria is an impressive spot on São Miguel Island, located on the west coast, very close to other places in the Sete Cidades area.

 

Ponta da Ferraria, along with other coastal attractions like Mosteiros Beach or the natural pool of Caneiros, are often visited on the same day as Sete Cidades due to their proximity. Nevertheless, we believe that São Miguel's west coast deserves a full day to truly enjoy the landscape and its waters.

Ponta da Ferraria attracts many people because of its unique natural pool of thermal waters, fed by a thermal spring that distinguishes it worldwide by combining thermal waters with those of the Atlantic Ocean. It's a truly unique spot, and if you have the chance to explore the pool at sunset, you'll witness a spectacular view with the sun descending over the Atlantic Ocean.

At Ponta da Ferraria, you'll also find the Termas da Ferraria, a private spa offering thermal treatments and wellness activities, located next to the parking lot where you can leave your car to visit the entire area.

During the summer, the natural pool at Ponta da Ferraria can be quite crowded, despite the overall tranquility of the island. While this may disappoint some people, we still recommend a visit due to its uniqueness and the stunning surrounding landscapes, with a coast formed by black lava rapidly cooled by the ocean, creating uncommon rugged shapes.
